5 story gamers met at the wayward coffee house to escape the heat with a game of microscope union and smoothies. The players during the theme-picking phase created a post apocalyptic world that avoided many common tropes such as no radiation zombies, no corporate overlords, no AI, nonviolent revolutions, and no spells.
The universe that unfolded revolved around the ancestry of Number 14. 14 worked as a chief mechanic who suffered from seizures. Some claim the gods spoke to number 14 during these seizures. She ended up leading a peaceful slave revolt. Number 14 was a member of the mysterious cult of the 1000. The cult lived in orderly well-planned cities with square house, concrete as far as the eye can see, and subsist on a nutritional paste that is vile to the taste but very good for you. The cult followed a set 1000 of rules. The rules are strictly followed and those that stray from the rules are harshly punished. Even the founder, Laura Adler and Thunder were not exempt from the death sentence when they strayed from the rules. Thunder was truly an inspiration figure, whose music inspired a people to give up living a terrestrial technological life and become air nomads. The nomads were known as the people of the sun and the moon. The people live in solar heated air ships. During the day the ships would fly and during the night as the air cools they would descend. The paths of the airships were guided by spirit shamans who would touch the ground to determine when to take off and how high to climb. The cult of the 1000 and the people of sun and the moon had a turbulent history. The initial encounter was a mission of mutually beneficial trade until a ruthless sadistic adventurer, who was hitchhiking on the peoples’ hot airship, opened fire and started a rampage. He killed many of the numbers and wounded some of the nomads. Until a matriarch of the numbers killed him with her mechanized battle armor. After this point, the numbers would enslave the people of the sun and moon as dangerous elements. |
