Our story starts when Cal Meevins, a two bit criminal who just served 18 months for money laundering bumming a ride to town from Sheriff Carlson. The Sheriff lets Cal know to watch his step because he'd like nothing better then put his criminal ass back in prison. Cal plays along with the Sheriff and flicks him as he is dropped off at the Cupcake Emporium instead of his former lover Stone Ventura's X-plosion O'Flavor cupcake shop.

X-plosion O'Flavor is part of the extreme new wave cupcake movement that is sweeping the nation. X-plosion of flavor features cupcakes like the Atomic Bikinni that delivers three devastating payloads of flavor sour, hot, and sweet. The Ambiance of X-Plosion of Flavor is like a European discothèque with a DJ, metal fixtures, and a constant beat. In contrast, Candice Clark's Cupcake Emporium has been a fixture on main street Apple Valley for 60 years. The recipes are timeless and have remained unchanged since Grandmother Candice opened up her shop in the 50s. They recently added a white cupcake with a strawberry on top to their white and chocolate cupcake line up to compete with the nouveau flavors of X-plosion.

Cal enters the emporium thinking it is Stone's business and meet's Candice. Cal and Candice find an unlikely alliance in their hatred of Stone and Cal promises to bury him. Cal and Candice's planning is interrupted by the sounds of bass and Stone's distinctive voice on a loud speaker "Cupcake Tornado!" Stone has unveiled his latest creation the Cupcake Tornado a box where you stand in a tempest of swirling miniature cupcakes. The Tornado is a personal favorite of the Mayor's son. Candice breaks her rule against storming, and storms from her Emporium to confront Stone.

Stone dismisses Candice and directs a Cupcake Cannon to send a volley of delicious pastries at Candice. Cal emerges from the Emporium to see his former lover for the first time in 18 months. Cal is angry because Stone stole all of Cal's ill begotten money and sunk it into the X-plsion O'Flavor. Stone is taken a back when he see's Cal and offer's him Cal's Kale cupcake which was Cal's favorite flavor that Stone kept on the menu even though they never sold. Cal wasn't about the forgive Stone for a simple cupcake and they part with Cal's heart still set upon vengeance.

Later that night at 3 AM, an hour after the X-plosion O'Flavor has closed Cal trips a silent alarm. He has found the secret ledger that shows the trail of elicit money being laundered at the cupcake shop. The security company wakes the Sheriff up with word of the break-in. Sheriff Carlson check's the location of Cal's bracelet and is assured Cal is safely tucked in his apartment.
The Sheriff drives across town to investigate the break-in. He kicks open the door and finds Cal in the back office. He confronts Cal who claims he was invited by Stone and has a key, that doesn’t fit the locks, but he has a key. Just then a BMW M5 brakes squealing pulls into the lot. Stone is with a stunning platinum blonde, Rahul and jumps out of the car and runs into the shop. The Sheriff turns to face Stone and Cal points to the crooked ledger in his coat pocket behind the Sheriff’s back. Stone realizing the damning evidence quickly backs up Cal's story. The Sheriff leaves and Cal hands the book to Stone as a token of fake good will since he has already photographed the book with his phone.

The Sheriff, the next days drives to his cousin's shop Candice Cupcake where the sly Candice convinces the Sheriff to investigate Stone. Later that day Candice and Cal meet up and Cal let's slip about the crooked books and how he could take down Stone. Candice is unable to persuade Cal to take down Stone since Cal would also be implicated. Meanwhile across town, Stone has scheduled a meeting with the Sheriff. He is delivering two-dozen cupcakes and talks about a new line of cupcakes being developed which will raise money for the policeman ball. Stone spins a yarn about how he is afraid because Cal is a forger and uses his skills to extort money from businesses by creating fake ledgers. Sheriff Carlson, who has held grudge ever since the Feds caught Cal in his town, agrees to help Stone set up a sting that will show the Feds once and for all who is the Police mastermind

Later that night, Cal buys a bottle of Malibu Coconut and proceeds to get hammered. He sends the incriminating evidence to Candice and goes to Stone's penthouse flat. He knocks on the door and Stone thinking him Manwell, tells him to get his cute Latin butt back on the plane because it is over. Stone lets Cal into his flat. Cal and Stone share a moment, how could they be mad at each other. Cal and Stone embrace and melt into each other as the pent-up emotions flow. Just then Candice texts Stone and Cal the pictures, Stone knows he has been betrayed and kicks out Cal of his flat.

The next day the sting goes down. Cal is arrested emerging from Candice's Emporium and Stone runs up and tackles him and plants a fake check from Candice and the crooked ledger on Cal. Sheriff Carlson arrests Cal but Candice escapes in her Volvo for parts unknown. Two FBI agents who are highly skeptical of the claims and advices Stone to not leave town interview the Sheriff and Stone. Stone protests because his is meeting Denzel in Acapulco and you know how he is with cabana boys.

When the dusts settle, Cal is exonerated as the Feds pin the crimes on Stone. Stone ends up chocking to death crying while eating an "I forgive You" cupcake from Cal. Candice ends up in jail alone, without friends, making cupcakes. Sheriff Carlson leaves law enforcement and starts a political action pact as a professional fundraiser.
