The following is the resulting story of a game of Kingdom played 9/25/14 between Brett, Quaker, and Kyle. I have opted to leave off the details of the game and player interaction out and merely tell the plot that came out.

==============

Not too far in the future, a civilian biodome spaceship, named CDS-9, narrowly escaped from Earth following a zombie apocalypse. What was a population of vegan hippies is now under the control of a pseudo-militaristic group led by Captain Noble, a man as stupid as he is confident. The hippies, used to their commune and lack of central leadership, do not get along well with Captain Noble's brand of overbearing control. They start plotting a rebellion led by one of their own.

The chosen leader of this coupe is a well-spoken fraud by the name of Bartholomew. Formerly one of the people's recruiters, he has never believed the mantra of the hippies. They're all a little crazy if you ask him. But now, he has unwittingly found himself to be their leader, even as he he holds a deep secret: he is himself infected.

The glue keeping these two factions from tearing each other apart is Dr. Schmitt, brought on board by crew of Captain Noble. Captain Noble believes Dr. Schmitt is his best friend and closest confidant. Dr. Schmitt, on the other hand, has endured bullying and torture at the hands of Captain Noble since high school. This all has left Dr. Schmitt completely untrusting of everyone, but he reluctantly puts up with Captain Noble once again now that circumstances have forced him to do so.

Back on Earth, Dr. Schmitt was close to finding a cure for the zombie plague, but all of that work is now lost. On CDS-9, he once believed that he could never continue his zombie research until he discovered Bartholomew's secret. In the moment, they were able to come to an agreement. Dr. Schmitt would keep Bartholomew's secret and would advise Captain Noble to be less of a dick to the hippies in exchange for Bartholomew letting Dr. Schmitt do studies on him. Dr. Schmitt was able to fashion an inhibitor injection that Bartholomew must take everyday to keep from turning into a zombie.

One fateful day, a zombie infestation broke out in the bio-dome. The carnage was fast, but Noble's security team was faster. The biodome was completely sealed off locking all of the zombies, as well as a small group of uninfected people who were able to barricade themselves inside. Under the orders of Captain Noble, a quarantine order was placed on the biodome.

However, this did not sit well with the Bartholomew's group of hippies. Knowing that their family members were barely surviving from a zombie horde that could devour them at any moment, a small group of mutineers, acting on the order of Bartholomew, created a plot to break them out of the Biodome. Fortunately for the ship, the plot failed and the mutineers were captured before any quarantine breach could occur.

Captain Noble, discovering that Bartholomew was behind the behind the attack locks him up in the brig, and then gets back to plotting how he is going to solve the ship's most pressing problem: the lack of food now that the biodome has been shut off. Calling on his trusted advisor, Dr. Schmitt, they arrive at two options. The first is to move the quarantine to the hangar bay using barricades to force the zombies to take the path they require and flushing them out of the biodome. The second is to shoot everyone in the biodome, zombie or not.

In the observation deck of the biodome, Dr. Schmitt and his laboratory assistant discover that the zombies appear to be evolving. What used to be a group of meandering zombies without any organization at all, now appear to congregate and have a clear leader. What is happening?

Dr. Schmitt, visiting Bartholomew in the brig for his treatment lets slip the options facing Captain Noble. Outraged that extermination of potentially non-infected humans is on the table, he relays a message to his hippie horde. On the morning of the big decision, Captain Noble, not believing that the zombies can be moved without endangering the ship, gives the termination order.

The hippies, however, break Dr. Noble out of the brig and then stage a attack on the security crew right as the extermination begins. It's man vs man and zombie vs man in a massive battle of confusion and blood. In the end, many people have died, the known zombies have all been killed, but the hippies have rescued several of their un-turned family members and are now holding them in hiding in the ship's quarters.

Bartholomew sneaks Dr. Schmitt to see the hidden people who discovers what he feared, they are all infected. Not wanting to give up his chance to discover a cure again, he agrees to treat them all in secret to keep them from turning.

Captain Noble, fearing that the infected are now loose on CDS-9, orders Dr. Schmitt to test everyone on board for the zombie virus. Anyone found to be infected will be killed immediately. Bartholomew is tested, but Dr. Schmitt uses slight of hand to switch the blood samples out of view of the observers and Bartholomew is allowed to go back to his crew. The remaining infected are safely hidden from security forces seeking them out.

After floating out in space for several weeks, the CDS-9 comes across another spaceship. It's a military ship from back on Earth. The ship sends out a single distress call, but does not respond to any further hails. The number of unknowns and potential dangers in this situation is massive. The ship has the ability to blow CDS-9 into oblivion but they have made no indications of arming their weapons. Is it infested with zombies or are they really in need of help?

In an advisory meeting between Captain Noble, Dr. Schmitt and Bartholomew, Dr. Schmitt reveals that a scan of the ship has shown pods of living people on two sides of the ship. Captain Noble decides to follow Bartholomew’s suggestion of sending a small shuttle of a security team as well as two representatives from Bartholomew’s hippie group to find out more about the state of the ship.

Upon arrival, it is discovered that no zombie infection exists on the ship. The two pods of people are two different waring factions from a mutiny against the military that controlled the ship, the leader of which declared himself to be a dictator after the zombie apocalypse on Earth. The lack of communication post the call for help was due to it being unsafe for either side to send people into the communication room.

The CDS-9 crew learns all of this from the mutineers side whom they discover first. Captain Noble and Bartholomew listen to the conversation live from the bridge of CDS-9 as they learn of the mutiny. Bartholomew, sensing an opportunity to be part of an anti-dictator mutiny that has weapons to fight against their oppressors runs out and recruits all the hippies to join him in commandeering the final shuttle of CDS-9 to fly over to the military ship, leaving Captain Noble and Dr. Schmitt as well as the very small remaining security team remaining on CDS-9.

On the military ship, Bartholomew and his hippies provide the mutineers the numbers needed to end the stalemate and take over the ship from the militaristic dictator. Unfortunately, the zombie virus infecting Bartholomew as well as all the hidden citizens on CDS-9 chooses this time to fight back against the inhibitors that Dr. Schmitt has been injecting. Bartholomew, now a zombie, on the military ship as well as all the zombies on CDS-9 take over their respective ships in a completely savage, brutal, and quick manner.

There is now no longer any one non-human on either ship. Zombies are the only thing left. However, there is an upside. As it turns out, the inhibitor delaying the infection from taking over the human host was allowing the zombie virus to evolve at an accelerated rate. The evolved zombies that have taken over the ships are smart, capable of using guns, and love to rock out. To everyone’s surprise, being a zombie is awesome!

Fast forward several years to a planet, on which survives the last human settlement post the apocalypse on Earth. News arrives of two old Earth ships arriving, the most exciting news the people have had in years. However, when the ships arrive, Bartholomew and Dr. Schmitt come storming out with a zombie horde each packing semi-automatic rifles. Those who are lucky enough to not be shot get to become a zombie themselves. Under the rule of zombie Bartholomew, and advised by zombie Dr. Schmitt, the planet lives on as a zombie paradise.

Zombie Dr. Schmitt gives zombie (former) Captain Noble wedgies con a daily basis.

The End.
