Chombie Cinema! At a tropical resort. On an island off the coast of Mexico. With culturally incorrect hula dancers and luaus for the guests. And then throw in a washed-up masked Mexican wrestler, Jesus the Liberator! Because really, what zombie apocalypse does not go better with a Mexican wrestler?

Instead of normal zombies we opted for a nano-bot plague that made people stagger around jerkily and wreak havoc, but that decision didn't turn out to make much of a difference once we got rolling: for all intents and purposes it was a pretty normal zombie scenario.

Alex's Mexican wrestler put us in a more humorous mindset, but we actually injected a fair amount of human grounding in the story. Cody's vacationing accountant was escaping his onerous family life, but now that the chips were down all he wanted was to get back to them. And after a drunken bout of breaking furniture (and my security guard's arm) we got a glimpse into a sadder and more serious side of the Mexican wrestler too.

Rules-wise I think we all agreed the character cards don't help as much as they should. They're a little too over the top. Cody, Alex: what did you guys think?

Like a lot of tight ensemble games, it can be tougher with three players because you have fewer combinations to work with. Zombie Cinema demands inter-character conflicts, so with characters A-B-C any productive scene must have at least A+B or B+C. That really only gives you two possible conflict combinations, with the third character present or not.
Story Games Seattle was rebooted in March 2010 as a weekly public meetup group for playing GMless games. It ran until March 2018, hosting over 600 events with a wide range of attendees.
