The Quiet Year -- Now in Color

Game Played 22 Jan 2015
Players: Heather, John and Aaron

Set in an archipelago this version of The Quiet Year started with a surplus of pineapples and a scarcity of pigs and drinkable water. While the tropical island paradise did provide well for the people their lives were fraught with fear of an active volcano and a stone sea god in the center of a vortex. Decrepit military equipment and a sunken pirate ship were found.

Map was made using watercolor pencils and aquabrushes so that it could be done on the fly. Everyone drew and it seemed to only slightly slow down the game.

The last 2 times I played this game it has taken much longer that the pervious times. I think a device like the "palette" in Microscope could be used before defining scarcities instead of rushing into it would create more cohesive game play and would probably speed it up too. Anybody else feel this?
Story Games Seattle was rebooted in March 2010 as a weekly public meetup group for playing GMless games. It ran until March 2018, hosting over 600 events with a wide range of attendees.

Our charter was: Everyone welcome. Everyone equal. No experience necessary.
