March 6th game plans

If we stay with three or four players, my plan is to play Shock: Social Science Fiction. It's GM'less, so I'll be facilitating and explaining the rules. It's a good fit for a small group, but if we suddenly wind up with a larger group I'll pull something else out instead.

March Double-Header (Mar 6)

Shock emulates old school "meaningful" sci fi, where the sci fi elements are really there to reflect and examine real world issues, like individuality or poverty. The game allows a lot creative involvement for all the players, and lets everyone try their hand at story game skills like scene framing and building conflicts.

No prep necessary: just bring your brain.

We're up to five definites (and two maybes), so we'll probably switch to Geiger Counter, since it handles more people more fluidly.

Think about any movie where there a lot of characters to start, but then because of some menace (zombies, aliens, plague, a sinking ship) most of them get bumped off, until by the end we are left with just a few survivors -- that's Geiger Counter. You also get to draw big maps to create the setting as you go, which is a lot of fun.

Shock may return at the March 13 meetup, since we already have enough people to split into two groups.
Story Games Seattle was rebooted in March 2010 as a weekly public meetup group for playing GMless games. It ran until March 2018, hosting over 600 events with a wide range of attendees.

Our charter was: Everyone welcome. Everyone equal. No experience necessary.
