The Dripping Dead on Alder Island (Mar 20)
Zombie Cinema
players: Jonathan, Manu, Ben

Jonathan brought Zombie Cinema, which was great for jumping in and just getting down to play. We set our game on small town Alder Island, somewhere in Puget Sound. Before long drowned corpses were shuffling out of the surf.

I think a couple of times we got tripped up by not being able (in the early stages) to have conflicts vs the zombies even when the scene seemed to go that way -- that felt a little counter-intuitive -- but we figured out ways around that without too much trouble. On the other hand the "out of scene" deaths of characters when the zombie pawn advanced worked well. Having a tied conflict elsewhere make the Doc blow his brains out back at his cabin was perfect.

I had great fun. It was funny that the sweet kindly waitress was the only one to survive :-D. ZC is IMHO a really good game to introduce people to story games.

She never would have made it if you hadn't sacrificed crotchety old George to keep her in the game.

But I think that's a sign that the system is working exactly how it's supposed to, letting you trade your character's survival for someone else's because you think they're a more fitting survivor, story-wise. So the dice mess us around, but we still have control of who has the best chance to live if we want.
Story Games Seattle was rebooted in March 2010 as a weekly public meetup group for playing GMless games. It ran until March 2018, hosting over 600 events with a wide range of attendees.

Our charter was: Everyone welcome. Everyone equal. No experience necessary.
