What We Played: The Doctor

The Doctor (June 24)
players: Susan, Ping, Ben, Sylvia, Jason

We playtested "The Doctor" (as in: Doctor Who), a game Jason & Sylvia have been working on. Normally meetups would be a bad venue for early playtesting, but as luck had it there no new folks this session so we decided to take it for a spin.

Jason warned us that the mechanics were very rough (ink barely dry on the paper), so we tweaked some issues midstream, and spun some fiction of the Doctor arriving smack in the middle of one alien civilization besieging the ancestral sacred home of another (basically Masada meets Helm's Deep), and then dug into what was really going on, Doctor Who style. I'm still shocked yet amused the alien jellyfish god-idol got voted on to the Tardis as a companion. He and Tacitus Fortunus, Roman general sans army, will make a fine team.

(we also played The Believers as a warmup, but that was Susan's baby so she gets to describe it)
Story Games Seattle was rebooted in March 2010 as a weekly public meetup group for playing GMless games. It ran until March 2018, hosting over 600 events with a wide range of attendees.

Our charter was: Everyone welcome. Everyone equal. No experience necessary.
